The white balloon has been adopted by Bravehearts Inc. as symbolic of the issue of child sexual assault.
On Tuesday 8 September, white balloons filled AITE's classrooms and reception and staff and students were invited to wear white, as a display of our support for White Balloon Day.
Staff and students also made gold coin donations towards the cause while gathering for a morning tea. In total, through our online fundraising and gold coin donations, AITE raised $925 for Bravehearts Inc. A fantastic contribution and display of support!
Bravehearts is Australia’s only children’s charity holistically dedicated to the issue of child sexual assault. They offer comprehensive counselling and education for children and young people plus parental support for non-offending family members along with advocacy for adult survivors. Bravehearts also invests in extensive training and research developing strategies better able to combat the complex issues associated with child sexual assault. Founded in 1997 by Executive Director Hetty Johnston, Bravehearts aims to forge a “movement for change” in how paedophilia is dealt with by the criminal justice sector, government and the community at large and to provide survivors with a voice.
AITE thanks everyone who supported this event and Bravehearts Inc.
