August 2009 Graduation & AITE 5th Anniversary
Australian Institute of Technology & Education (AITE) held its August 2009 Graduation Ceremony last Thursday evening, hosted by Bill Kardamitsis JP, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AITE. The ceremony celebrated the graduation of nearly one hundred Diploma of Community Welfare Work students. AITE also took thise opportunity to formally celebrate its fifth anniversary of operation as a fully accredited registered training organisation.

Guests – including numerous industry partners, AITE staff and associates along with student’s family and friends – joined together to acknowledge the dedication and achievements of the graduating students and show their support for AITE.

Premier of Victoria, John BrumbyGraduands were thrilled to be formally congratulated by Jenny Mikakos, Member for Northern Metropolitan Region and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, on behalf of the Premier of Victoria, the Honorable John Brumby MP. The Premier acknowledged the great contribution overseas students make to the life of our State and wished graduands every success in the future.

AITE’s valued industry partners employ AITE students in ‘field placement’ work based training programs to enhance their education and training. As an AITE industry partner, Paul Brophy, Manager of Sambell Lodge SRS (under the umbrella of the Brotherhood of St Laurence), highlighted the significant contribution students make to his facility through the field placement program and the positive impact they have on the life of residents. Paul congratulated graduands on their demonstrated commitment to the welfare sector.

Bill Kardamitsis encouraged graduands to be proud of their cultural heritage and respectful of others, whilst embracing life in Australia. He reminded graduands of their responsibility to be productive ambassadors of both their homeland and now AITE. Bill also thanked Trainers, Assessors and staff for their hard work and commitment in guiding and supporting students in their studies.

Following the formal ceremony, graduates and attendees enjoyed supper and celebratory drinks with live entertainment. Graduates even treated guests to a display of cultural singing and dancing. With fond memories and excitement for future prospects shared by all, it was a fantastic evening.

The ceremony was held on Thursday 27 August 2009, at the Rydges on Swanton, Carlton VICTORIA.
